Will accountability and transparency for NY public authorities working for non-profits put a chill on volunteerism?
Note to Civic-Minded: Prepare to Reveal Riches Lorne Michaels and Oscar de la Renta probably do not follow the deliberations of the New York City Council standards committee any more than most people. But they and other prominent, wealthy New Yorkers who volunteer on local civic boards and commissions might want to tune in on Tuesday. The committee will be discussing whether the people who sit on boards of certain nonprofit organizations will have to submit long and detailed financial disclosure forms — laying bare their sources of income, stock holdings, real estate investments and debts.
