Press Freedom Week kicks off tomorrow - Cebu, Philippines
Once again, Cebu’s print and broadcast media will set aside competition to celebrate press freedom.
The annual celebration kicks off tomorrow with a “Freedom Walk” down Osmeña Boulevard at 7 a.m.
Newspaper and TV-radio companies will hold a parade from City Hall to the Provincial Capitol, where a Holy Mass and opening program will unfold at the Social Hall.
The annual celebration, which falls on the week of the Sept. 21 , 1972 declaration of Martial Law, is unique to Cebu.
A series of activities from Sept. 19 to Sept. 25 will be held to foster professional journalism and camaraderie in the industry.

Cebu Daily News and the Embassy of Canada will sponsor a forum “Your Right to Know: The Power of Citizens in the Freedom of Information Act” on Friday, Sept. 24, at the Marcelo B. Fernan Cebu Press Center, where other media forums will be held.
