Comment on Graham Steele's recent interview in Allnovascotia.com

On behalf of the Right to Know Coalition of Nova Scotia Darce Fardy, the President, commended the Minister of Finance, Graham Steele, for his recent public support for the Nova Scotia Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act

In an interview with allnovascotia.com, the senior cabinet minister advised all public bodies they must provide records requested under the FOIPOP Act unless they can prove that the information sought falls under one of the Act's exemptions to disclosure.

The Act itself says that exemptions should be "rare and specific" and that public bodies must be "fully accountable" to the public.
