Wanted: Feedback on restoring the ballot-box to its former glory
By JOHN HAMM and RUSSELL MacLELLAN http://thechronicleherald.ca/Opinion/898659.html
Democracy 250, a non-partisan body unanimously supported by the Nova Scotia legislature, is planning next year's celebrations. But more than just celebrate this important national milestone, Democracy 250 wants to generate a greater understanding of how democracy positively influences our lives and why voting is so important. Our schools will be a focal point for discussions, but it is a discussion we encourage all Nova Scotians to participate in.
We welcome your input: Democracy250@gov.ns.ca
Former premiers John Hamm and Russell MacLellan are co-chairs of Democracy 250.
Note: Democracy 250 is not currently associated with RTKNS but we certainly welcome their efforts to enhance the democratic experience in Nova Scotia. - Greg Pemberton

We're trying something new. After a suggestion from a SIMSA student at their Orientation Week Associations Display last week (see previous post), RTKNS now has a Facebook presence.(I draw the line at Second Life though ;) . We'll figure out how to incorporate this media into our portfolio as we go, so bear with us.
Check us out at http://dal.facebook.com/group.php?gid=5339209767 or just search for Right to Know Coalition of Nova Scotia in Facebook.
Cheers,

Dalhousie School of Information Management Orientation Week - Associations Display
Indranil (see centre of photo above) and I had a good time at the Dalhousie School of Information Management Orientation Week Associations Display. We met and talked with the students. Some of them signed as members on with the Coalition on the spot.
We set up shop next to Carla Heggie of CAPAPA (Canadian Association of Professional Access and Privacy Administrators) who was also there to spread the word and recruit. The Special Libraries Association (SLA) Student Group of Dalhousie University also attended .
Thanks to Steven Vincenzo Gibson Vice-Chair (Academic) of SIMSA (School of Information Management Student Association) for inviting the Coalition to Participate.
Cheers,
Greg Pemberton
